Growing up in an extended family of 11 taught Alan a thing or two about getting along with others.
Enjoying an idyllic Kiwi childhood in a very different Herne Bay to the one we know today, Alan and his siblings made the most of the natural inner city coastal suburb, eeling in the creeks and only turning up at home when they needed feeding. Alan’s family home measured just 90sqm, so it was understandable the kids sought their fun outside! That was some years ago, before the developers moved in and turned the popular Auckland suburb into something vastly different. But it was during these childhood years Alan’s father, Bernard, taught him some valuable lessons that would stick with him throughout his life.
So when he watched his 82-year-old dad sell the family home by private treaty in 1994 for a woefully undervalued price of $294,000, Alan was gutted. He saw his beloved father preyed on by a savvy purchaser, and left shortchanged, without any real estate agency representation.
Alan was not only gutted, he was determined not to see another senior person be taken advantage of that way. And so began his career in real estate.
And he’s been working every day since 1995 to secure the very best deals he can for his clients: both seller AND buyer.
