Ellerslie is now a desirable suburb with convenient access to the city centre for commuting (via rail and bus links) and ready access to the nearby Southern Motorway for road users. The town centre is pleasant with good services, while retaining a sense of community. Housing in the area is well planned and close to a number of attractive parks, such as Michaels Avenue Reserve and Waiatarua Reserve. 

Ellerslie provides a range of housing stock, with the earliest residential housing recorded in the area constructed between 1900 - 1912. The majority of the residential housing stock in the locality was constructed between 1990 - 1999.

Residential housing stock in Ellerslie is made up of approximately 97% residential housing and 3% residential investment housing properties.  

The housing market in our the Ellerslie location is super hot right now. Developers are paying an absolute premium for the right site, provided they are put in a competitive situation. Terrace and apartments are starting to make their present felt, the resent completion of The Element on the corner of Pukerangi Crescent and Arthur Street is a good example of this. I am expecting more of this sort of development to enter the market over the next few years, There appears to be a new development to ready to start soon on the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway by a division of Legacy Property.
