Thompson Park Apartments, The Best Mt Wellington Apartments

This project comprising 107 apartments across two towers of five floors each.

This development is located in the Auckland suburb of Mt Wellington, upon the site of an old Mercury Energy building. The apartments apply principles of adaptive re-use to create a unique development utilizing the existing structure.

Construction involved a mixture of structural steel, precast concrete and logicwall for the structural elements and aluminum joinery, cedar and ACP for the building envelope.

The exterior of the apartments incorporates a strongly defined entrance using repeating dark louvers with cedar highlights, breaking up the horizontal form of the building. Generous communal areas are provided with units designed for light, outlook, and privacy

Thompson Park Apartments in Mt Wellington won the Multi-unit Dwelling category providing "a credible solution to a complex pressing problem and a step in the evolution of urban living in New Zealand".
